|Chris enjoys a camp we had on Bleaberry Fell in the Lake District in May 2013.
Now the storms many of us have had to endure in recent weeks appears to be slowly easing it’s way out, I’ll soon be dropping all video editing and be packing for my next Lakeland visit. I’m counting on conditions improving so I can capture some wintry scenes of the Scafells. Or at least I hope so.
In the meantime, I’m pleased to announce that this summer I’ll be working on a new hour long video featuring world renowned backpacker Chris Townsend.
LAKE DISTRICT BACKPACKING WITH CHRIS TOWNSEND
Chris Townsend goes hillwalking and wild camping in the incomparable hills of the Lake District. On a week-long journey Chris climbs the four highest summits and has a succession of spectacular camps. In the film he shows the techniques for safe and enjoyable wild camping in the hills and discusses the beauty and magic of the Lake District National Park.
IN ASSOCIATION WITH
The DVD and HD digital download for the video should be available from the end of August into September. Tonally this video will be a lot different to my usual work – much less cinematic in style. Nevertheless, I’ll be spending many extra nights on the hills once filming with Chris has completed to capture his planned route and the landscape at it’s summer best.
One thing I’m keen to show in the video is Chris at camp amongst the Lakeland hills. Quite often any camps you usually see in many outdoors productions are a bit fake. ie, the crew turned up at a given location at a given time. With filming done, the crew goes home in just a few hours. There’ll be none of that in this video.
If the weather is foul, we’ll be out in the worst of it. If there’s a spectacular sunset from a high camp on a summit somewhere – we’ll see it. The real deal.
And of course we’ll enjoy Chris’ leisurely company and wisdom whilst he hikes amongst the fells and sharing some tips on backpacking.
I guess it will be a video of interest to those wishing to take up backpacking for the first time, as well as being something to reminisce for veteran backpackers.
Either way, we’re both excited about it and can’t wait to begin and we hope you’ll feel the same way too.
I’m looking forward to filming more scenes like the following with Chris – this being a clip from ‘The Cairngorms in Winter with Chris Townsend’.
